South Africa Must Remember Their Past; Stop Stabbing Us In The Back – Sammy Awuku Tells South Africans

Sammy Awuku, National Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has asdvised South Africans to stop pursuing their fellow blacks over claims that they are taking over their job market.

According to him, the African nationals in the country are the cause of their problems and wondered why they would attack them when the Whites are the ones controlling the bulk of the country's wealth.

He asked the South Africans to remember their past during the Apartheid era when Africans supported them to resist their oppressors.

Foreign businesses have been destroyed and looted by angry South African youths.

Meanwhile, Ghana and Nigeria have told its citizens to "avoid travelling to high risk and volatile areas" in South Africa until the situation simmers down.

Mr. Awuku, contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM’s "Kokrokoo”, stated emphatically that what the xenophobic attacks by the South Africans will have a backlash on their businesses across the African continent.

Disclosing that majority of the South African companies are situated in other African countries including Ghana, the NPP National Organizer urged the South African President and government to be proactive in resolving the issue.

“I am very disappointed the way the South African President has handled the situation...I think what they are doing will affect many South African businesses across the continent. They have majority of their companies situated in the country including banks, malls and telecommunication; go and find out those who own the chains of these businesses in the country. Most of them are South Africans.

"While other Africans are patronising your product, you haunt us like animals and stab us in the back. We welcome you with open arms and when our brothers come to your country, you welcome them with thunder and blood...” he stressed.
