Suspects Arrested With Guns In Yeji

A dawn swoop carried out in Yeji and its environs in the Pru East District by a combined team of police and military personnel from Sunyani and Techiman have arrested some 16 suspects with three having different types of guns, ammunition and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemps.

Sumaila Ibrahim alias JJ was found with different types of guns including bruni pistol mod 92, a revolver pistol, dismantled short gun, a G3 with five rounds of ammunition and a browning pistol with six rounds of ammunition.

Another suspect, Yakubu Ashabu alias Andani was also found with parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, while Tahiru Abdul Wahab was also arrested with a bakal short gun, two hammers and five cutlasses.

Another suspect Joseph Larry aka Wofa also found with the dried leaves.

According to Bono Regional Police PRO, Chief Inspector Kinsley Augustine Oppong told DAILY GUIDE that four of the suspects found with the dangerous weapons including Sumaila’s wife have been sent to the Bono East Regional capital, Techiman for further interrogation.

He also said the others arrested have been detained at Yeji police station for further screening.

He called on residents of Yeji and travellers who are victims of robbery in the area, to visit the Techiman Police Divisional Headquarters to help in the identification of the suspects.
