New Juaben North NDC Positions Itself To Win Seat

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the New Juaben North Constituency in the Eastern Region is positioning itself to win the parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NDC, which has been unable to win the seat from the NPP in the last two elections, is planning to upstage the NPP in the 2020 general election.

The Constituency Chairman of the NDC, Alhaji Nasiru Abdul-Rahaman, said the party would leave no stone unturned in its bid to recapture power from the NPP.

He made the statement after Dr Abdul Manan Mustapha, one of the aspiring parliamentary candidates, submitted his nomination forms to contest the New Juaben North seat in Koforidua.

The event, which was attended by some branch executives and members of the NDC, was to effectively position the branches very well to enable them to contribute effectively and efficiently for victory in the 2020 general election.

Active campaign

Alhaji Abdul-Rahman explained that during Election 2020, all branch executives would be actively involved in the party’s campaign activities to mobilise more votes for the NDC.

He said the NDC would not allow the NPP to win the seat in next year’s general election, stating that with determination, unity, togetherness and focus, the NDC would capture the New Juaben North seat.

“We will never allow the party to repeat the mistake it made in the 2016 general election, which did not favour us and led to our going back into opposition”, he stated.

Alhaji Abdul-Rahaman said the party had a competent and an accomplished campaign team to do the work.

He stated: “Our aim as a party is to propagate the good works and policies of former President John Dramani Mahama to make the party more attractive and acceptable in the orphan constituency which is considered to be the stronghold of the ruling NPP”.

He called on the Ghanaian electorate to reject the NPP and throw their weight behind the NDC during next year’s general election.

“We are working very hard to add one new seat. We are determined to win and we are going to make sure that we go with the right campaign message to propel the NDC’s chances of winning the 2020 general election. It is a seat we have to win at all cost and I believe with hard work, coupled with our track record, the people of Ghana will bring back the NDC to power to improve the living conditions of the people”, he stated.

No politics of insults

Touching on the upcoming primaries, Alhaji Abdul-Rahaman advised the aspirants to desist from politics of insults as they campaigned for votes.

He said the party would not forgive any aspirant who would defy the party’s constitution and urged them to be civil in their utterances.
