Dr Osei Kwame & Despite Media Group Bag Honours At Ghana Business Awards

The Despite Media Group and and its Group CEO, Dr Osei Kwame “Despite” have been honored at the Second Edition of the Ghana Business Awards.

Despite Media Group scooped the Media Organization of the Year Award, while Dr Osei Kwame was adjudged the Social Entrepreneur of the Year.

This year’s edition themed; "Driving Corporate Entrepreneurship via Industry Academia Partnership", saw over 200 companies submitting their nominations, with a little over 100 shortlisted. 

Honours were given to Agribusiness Company of the Year, Telecom Company of the Year, Bank of the Year, Shipping Company of the Year, Retail Company of the Year, Hospitality  Company of the Year, Promising CEO of the Year, Electronic Company of the Year, Marine Service Provider of the Year, Importer of the Year, Best Growing Company of the Year, Food Company of the Year, Rural Bank of the Year, Africa CEO of the Year, CEO of the Decade, Exporter of the Year amongst others.

Papaye Foods, MTN, Barclays Bank, Benmarine Offshore Services, Mohinani Group, Nungua Warehouse Group of Companies, Westblue Consulting, Mr Hanan Abdul-Wahab of the National Food Buffer Stock Company, Dr Moses De-Gaulle Dogbatsey of Medi-Moses Prostate Centre, Mr Chris Goodsir of Swissport, and other tall list of illustrious individuals and corporate organisations were recipients of awards in various categories.

An initiative of Globe Productions in partnership with the Ministry of Business Development,the Graphic Business, Media General and the Institute of Directors, Ghana, the Ghana Business Awards seeks to promote business excellence as well as provide an opportunity for networking among industry players.

It is a prestigious awards programme that provides a platform to recognize individuals and companies that play a significant role in the growth and development of their business sector, while recognizing the key functions within the sector that promote growth and sustainability.

The Ghana Business Awards is the premier event in Ghana which seeks to celebrate achievement, innovation and brilliance within the business environment of Ghana

With a team of technical expertise (awards board) and independent consultants, chaired by Prof. Kwaku Atuahene-Gima, regarded as the Number 2 innovation management scholar in the world and ranked as number 1 scientist in Ghana based on number of Google citations by the European Commission; the award categories are modelled to recognize important commercial and industrial players who contribute significantly to the economy.

In all, Mr Ernest Bediako Sampong of Ernest Chemists, was adjudged the overall "Entrepreneur of the Year".
