Gov't Asked To Focus More On Retail Businesses To Create Jobs

The Chief Executive of AgFocus Ghana limited, Mr. Augustine Adongo has called on the government and policy makers to focus more attention on retail businesses in the country.

According to him, government and policy makers can help in providing assistance for retailing businesses in the country to reduce unemployment among the youth.

Speaking to Peace FM News at the grand opening ceremony of the Farmer's Market at Spintex in the Greater Accra region, Mr. Adongo said over the past couple of years, statistics show that 207,492 jobs were created in the country.

With this job creation, he said statistics show Industries created (24,000) jobs, Agriculture created (1,756)jobs, Retail Services also created (181, 641) jobs and the wholesale sector created 84,479 jobs, representing 47% percentage of all the services sectors.

The Retail Manager of the Farmer's Market, Mr. Bernard Amponsah said, Agriculture is one of the major sectors to provide employment in the country and called on the youth to participate in agric business.

He stressed that they are working with 100 farmers in 4 regions to make sure they provide them with better agriculture food stuff to the benefit of the Agriculture Business in the country.
