Read below full statement.

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen of the press, On behalf of 2M Express Transport Union. I welcome you all to this very important press gathering to speak to a very pertinent issue that transpired on the 29th of October, 2019.

Early hours of the 29th of October 2019, 2M Express Transport Union realised thugs around its loading premises at the Asafo Terminal, this was very unpleasant and unfortunate to describe. We therefore delved deep into the matter as a formal complaint was lodged at the Asokwa Police Station.

Our investigations after the complaint brought forth that the thugs were sent by G.P.R.T.U and V.I.P combined led by Mr. Asamoah who is a trustee of G.P.R.T.U.

We are by this release stating that the attack that took place on that faithful day brought about some casualties which includes

·         DESTRUCTION OF ONE OF OUR VANS.

·         STEALING OF OUR LAPTOP and AMPLIFIES.

·         DESTRUCTION of OUR CONTAINER OFFICE.

·         DISCONNECTION of OUR LIGHTING SYSTEM AT THE PREMISES.

Further on, we wish to state that the malicious and false allegation been peddled about are all false. We thereby wish to clear the airwaves on some few of them.

First of all, 2M Express is not for the Honourable member for the people of Bantama, Honourable Okyem Aboagye alone but rather a limited liability company which has other directors as part of the business. It is right to state that Honourable Okyem Aboagye is a share holder of the said company but that does not guarantee the propagandist to capture on the honourable member’s position to make politics out of it; that department is purely business and nothing more.

Moving on, we wish to state again that the company 2M Express has been in operation over a year and half now with one of the best terminal across the country precisely Greater Accra. This has necessitated the need for same terminal in the Kumasi Metropolis, thereby the partnership with Mighty Transport to also use their yard for loading. We have grown from 20 cars to over 40 cars now and still expecting more.

Debunking the allegation that 2M Express has two stations in Asafo, we state without equivocation that the branded building we are talking about is a parcel office and resting rooms for our drivers of our company and not a station so to say.

On our reaction of the V.I.P/ G.P.R.T.U Loading Space, we sent a delegation to officially inform and thank them for hosting us for the past year and half which was met with open arms from them, thereby on our surprise on the turn of events now. 2M Express is today calling on the authorities as a matter of urgency see to it that this long standing disagreements that always emerges is put to a closure. Stating few, we can talk of G.P.R.T.U/ V.I.P against M plaza, O.A and also S.T.C now, it is the turn of 2M Express. The question is WHO IS NEXT?

What we seek for is the Law to take its course on Mr. Asamoah the trustee of G.P.R.T.U who led the vandalisation exercise.

In conclusion, we wish to state that, Ghana our beloved country is a free market State which brings about competition thereby giving quality service to customers.

In view of that 2M Express brings on board quality service and affordability into our transport system and must be allowed to do so without any hindrance.

We call on all and sundry and also stakeholders to step in and ensure peaceful co-existence at the Asafo Terminal.

Thanks.
