Invitation To Unified NUGS Elective Congress 2019

We bring you warm greetings from the National Executive Committee of the National Union of Ghana Students.

The National Executive Committee informs institutional members and delegates of the National Union of Ghana Students that the 2019 Congress slated for the election of the 2019/20 National officers will now take place on the 10th of November 2019, at the premises of the Islamic University College of Ghana, Accra.

Institutions are to take notice of the following;

It is a Non-Residential Congress however, schools that require accommodation on the night of the 10th of November must inform the National Executive Committee and make the necessary arrangement before due time.
No school shall participate in the elective congress without satisfying its financial obligations to the Union. Schools are required to pay in full the dues expected of them which1ghs per student multiplied by the population of the school and congress capitation fee of Ghs 100 per head which will cater for feeding during Congress period and souvenirs as well. All payments must be by cheque in the name of NUGS .

The Union shall provide breakfast, Lunch and supper to delegates on the 10th of November 2019/2020 at the venue for Congress.

Polls shall be opened at 10 am prompt.

No delegate shall vote without bearing a recognised ID card from their institutions of study.
Delegation to Congress shall be audited strictly in line with the constitution of the National Union of Ghana students as adopted 2019.

Institutional heads shall in compliance with relevant articles in the NUGS constitution be expected to present a delegates list signed by their dean responsible for students, enlisting the names of the student-delegate-voters, their index numbers, their programs of study, their respective academic levels of study, and the respective positions they hold in their schools qualifying them to be delegates as enshrined by ARTICLE 13L(iii) of the Constitution of the National Union of Ghana Students. *NO SCHOOL AND ITS DELEGATES SHALL VOTE WITHOUT SATISFYING THIS PROVISION*.
The list was expected to reach the National Executive Committee through [email protected] by 31st of October 2019. We have received a good number. All institutions that are yet to submit the list have an extension to 6th November, 2019.
For the avoidance of doubt, all lists should be on an official letterhead of the Local NUGS outfit.

The NATIONAL UNION OF GHANA STUDENTS’ SECRETARIAT and the Electoral Commission of Ghana’s officers supervising the elections shall strike out any/every delegate and school from voting without satisfying the regulations governing the election.
