A Ho Circuit Court presided over by Madam Pricilla Dikro Ofori has sentenced Michael Buakah, a welder, to eight months imprisonment in hard labour for unlawful entry of a house of a trader and causing harm.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Agnes Ahiable told the court that the complainant in the case is a trader who resides at Ho Nursing Training School Junction whilst the accused is a welder and a resident of Klefe-Atsatime, a suburb of Ho.
The Prosecution said on April 4, 2019 thieves entered the house of the complainant and made away with his mobile phone, again on April 11, 2019, thieves again came to the house and took away three other mobile phones.
Inspector Ahiable said the complainant then decided to keep vigil to get the miscreants and on April 20, 2019 at about 0300 hours, the complainant and a witness in the case laid ambush in the house, when the accused scaled the wall and entered the compound of the house.
She said the complainant and the witness then accosted the accused who was then tip toeing and enquired about his mission in the house, and that the accused armed with kitchen knife could not give any tangible reason.
The Prosecution said a struggle then ensued between them and in the melee the accused used the knife to inflict cuts on the left fingers, chest and also stabbed the left arm of the complainant but he was overpowered by the complainant and the witness.
She said a report was then made to the police and the accused was arrested and during investigations he admitted the offence in his cautioned statement of unlawful entry and causing harm to the complainant and was charged accordingly.
