Gbewaa Palace Receives Danquah Institute With Euphoric Welcome

The Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Abubakar Mahama II, welcomed the Executive Director of the Danquah Institute (DI), Mr. Richard Ahiagbah, to his Kingdom, when the latter called on him in his palace as part of his three-day courtesy calls on traditional rulers in the Northern Region on Saturday, November 9, 2019.

Mr. Ahiagbah, who embarked on the trip with some staff of the Institute, said he counted it as a great honour to obtain the Yaa-Naa's audience to highlight the shared values of Dagbon and the Danquah Institute.

The Danquah Institute believes in the leadership of ideas to formulate policies that both build and liberate the energies of the people, especially the youth, for development.

Mr. Ahiagbah said, Gbewaa is noted for leading with ideas, and he called on all in the public policy space and in politics to emulate the politics of ideas.

The Dagbon King was overwhelmed by the visit and described Mr. Ahiagbah as a friend of Gbewaa Palace.

Not only did he present a beautiful smock to the DI boss, but he also directed his Secretary and PRO to open the palace gates to him, whenever he requests royal audience.

Mr. Ahiagbah in turn reciprocated by presenting a beautifully framed portrait picture of the Yaa-Naa embossed on a Danquah Institute logo to the Overlord.

The Institute also paid a similar courtesy call on the Mion-Lana, Mahamadu Abdulai to celebrate the annual Damba Festival with the Chiefs and people of the area. The Mion-Lana thanked the team for celebrating the festival with them and promised to work in partnership with the institute.

The DI boss wrapped up his tour on Sunday, November 10, at Savelugu with the Yoo Naa Yakubu Abdulai V.

The Yoo Naa expressed great joy when Mr. Ahiagbah mentioned that the youth agenda of the government is a founding vision of the Danquah-Dombo-Busia Tradition to liberate the energies of people for the growth of property-owning democracy in Ghana. He told the Yoo Naa that the youth of Savelugu are beneficiaries of the government's policies for the youths.

The Yoo Naa welcomed the Executive Director's request for continual engagement with the traditional authorities to obtain ideas for policies to harness the energies of the youth for rapid national development.

The Yoo Naa said the government's focus on the youth is a move in the right direction, and he urged even more support and empowerment from the government.

The Executive Director thanked the Yoo Naa for the audience and promised to liaise with the palace for his input to inform policy formulation.
