Mr President, It’s Time To Restructure National Security - Kweku Baako

Managing Editor of New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako says it's time for President Akufo-Addo to restructure the country's National security.

“I think it is about time the President takes a look at the structure (of the National Security Council); in terms of the chain of command: who does what, when and where and indeed how” he said on Newsfile programme on Joy News channel, Saturday.

Background

GWCL and SOFTtribe a Ghanaian owned software company have been in the news after the latter accused the former of unfairly terminating their contract.

Armed security operatives who said they were operating on behalf of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) stormed the offices of SOFTtribe and seized the mobile phones of its staff.

David Kwamena Bolton, Technical Director of the IT firm describing the ordeal, said the heavily armed men, who claimed to be personnel from the National Security, presented what they claimed was a court order to confiscate mobile phones and electronic equipment of the company’s staff.

Meanwhile, former President John Mahama in a Facebook post on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, alleged that the government is using the National Security machinery to infringe upon the human rights of Ghanaians.

“I associate with the justifiable outrage expressed by many Ghanaians this morning upon receiving news of a Rambo-style raid on the offices of SOFTtribe. We all join in condemning the reckless invasion of their premises, and the seizure of electronic equipment including mobile phones of staff,” his post read.
