Sekou Nkrumah's Prediction On NDCs Flagbearership Race

Son of Ghanas first president Dr Sekou Nkrumah has predicted that one of the two candidates contesting president John Mills for the National Democratic Congress' flagbearership position in July will eventually back out of the race. Dr. Nkrumah who has publicly thrown his support for the ex-first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings for the partys flagbearership race said he was initially surprised with the late pick up of nomination forms by Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah but upon further investigations he has come to understand why. Speaking on Joy FMs news analysis programme, Newsfile on Saturday the former head of the National Youth Council could not say which of the two candidates will back out but was convinced it will eventually end up with one candidate against President Mills. He would rather prefer a Konadu candidature, saying, she had prepared our minds for a while now and would be in a better stead to challenge President Mills. We dont need two people to contest Prof Mills, he added. He said the mere fact that two people are ready to contest president Mills for the flagbearership position after his first term is enough indication of the discontent of the Mills administration. The deputy Tourism Minister James Agyenim Boateng who was also on the show was not the least disturbed with whatever strategy being hatched by the opponents of President Mills campaign team. He is convinced no matter what number of candidates contests the position, Mills victory will be unassailable. He said the constituency of President Mills is unmoved and has made up their minds already and that if the two opponents decide to contest the position against Mills they will have no choice but to split a minute constituency within the NDC.
