AGI Supports `COVID-19 Fight In Volta/Oti Regions

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Volta/Eastern/Oti Chapter has presented a cheque for GHC 10,000, and assorted items worth GHC 11,000.000 to the Volta and Oti Regional Coordinating Councils to aid the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

Mrs Lucy Tenkorang, Vice-Chair of the Volta/Eastern/Oti Chapter of the Association, said the donation would be distributed to crucial areas to help the Regions fill gaps in the management of the pandemic.

Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister, said the AGI’s contribution would complement the government's efforts, adding that the rise in cases in both regions required the support of all in flattening the curve.

The Regional Minister said supports of benevolent individuals, businesses, and organisations were helping sustain quarantine centres and the testing facility and revealed that stakeholders were expanding facilities to meet the rise in cases.

“The testing centre in Ho makes it possible to produce results within three hours, results that delayed for three days and we need support to keep the place up,” he said.

Dr Letsa appealed to faith-based organisations to adhere strictly to the national directives regarding mass religious activities to enable restrictions to be lifted as soon as possible.

The items donated were face masks, gun thermometers, hand sanitizers, liquid detergents, paper towels, and packs of water, as well as food items including bread and carbonated drinks.
