Wutah Kobby 'Angry' At Gov't For Charging Ghanaians Under Mandatory Quarantine

Hiplife artiste Wutah Kobby, known in real life as Morris Daniel Nyarko, is unhappy with the Government of Ghana for charging him and other Ghanaian nationals under mandatory quarantine a fee following their arrival in Ghana.

Wutah Kobby is part of the Ghanaians evacuated after spending months abroad due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

He and other musicians like D-black, Sarkodie were stuck abroad and their pleas to return home were honoured by President Nana Akufo-Addo who directed they should be evacuated back home.

They arrived on Thursday, June 18 but have been placed under mandatory quarantine for 14 days in various hotels before they are allowed to go to their homes.

According to Wutah Kobby, the government has asked those under quarantine to pay GHC 500 each day for lodging in the hotels.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Entertainment Review', the hiplife musician wondered why it should be expensive for them to undergo the 14-day quarantine.

To him, the government is not being fair to the Ghanaians from abroad.

''I'm yet to hear somebody who has paid a dime to be treated for COVID-19 in Ghana...So, why should it be expensive to stay 14-day quarantine and be treated for free for COVID-19 instead...It's a collective fight where every individual is supposed to play their role. We all want to stay alive. The measures in place are not only happening in Ghana; it is happening all over the world'', he stated.

He is therefore appealing to the government to either subsidize the charge or allow them to go to their homes and have a self-quarantine.

''Until you test me, I'm supposed to be able to have that kind of freedom to go to my house and stay there, and still put on my nose mask and stay safe until proven otherwise.''
