NPP Primaries: Deputy Minister Wins Subin Seat Despite Court Injunction

Deputy Minister for Works and Housing and Member of Parliament for Subin Constituency has retained his candidature to stand for the NPP COME 2020 elections.

The Member of Parliament had 485 whilst his closest contender J B Danquah had 166.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries at the Subin Constituency in the Ashanti Region was supposed to be called off due to an injunction placed on the primaries by some embattled delegates.

The suspension, according to reports, is due to a court injunction placed on the elections by a Kumasi High Court on Friday afternoon.

The petitioners, including Isaac Nimako, Richard Owusu Nti, and Yaw Boafo asked the court to prevent the party election committee and the Electoral Commission (EC) from holding a parliamentary primary at the Subin Constituency until the illegal removal of names from the constituency album is addressed.

But after a series of discussions, the election came off without the supervision of the Electoral Commission.

According to them, an injunction had been placed on the primaries and that they were not in the capacity to conduct the elections.

However, deputy regional Youth Organizer, Yahaya Salifu had to act as the electoral officer for the elections to come off in the Subin constituency.
