Some Politicians Are Only Committed To Destroying Ghana - Atik Mohammed

PNC General Secretary, Atik Mohammed has taken a swipe at political leaders playing politics with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ghana has currently recorded over 20,000 cases of COVID-19 with over 17,000 recoveries.

The rate of infection has become alarming as various Ministries and companies like the Finance Ministry and BOST have all shut down operations because their staff members have either tested positive or as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of the disease.

Some government officials and appointees like Education Minister and Senior Minister, Matthew Opoku Prempeh and Yaw Osafo Maafo among others contracted the disease.

The Education Minister has recovered from the disease.

Meanwhile, the issue has taken a political twist as some critics blame President Nana Akufo-Addo for the outbreak.

Making his submissions on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme, Atik Mohammed questioned the logic in playing politics with a disease that has no political colors nor has respect for persons.

"Destroying Ghana is what drives some politicians; looking for ways to ruin things so they will say we have been vindicated but that's not the essence of politics. Politics, in its simplest definition, we say it is the authoritative allocation of natural resources."

"Whoever created or wherever it came from, it didn't come with NDC/NPP colors. It is a universal tragedy...If there's anything that should bring us all together to think in the national interest for once, it should be COVID," he slammed the politicians.
