'Presidential Candidates Main Cause Of Ghana's Political Unrest' - Peace Council Chair Alludes

Chairman of the National Peace Council, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante is worried about the political tension gathering ahead of the December 7, polls.

This follows the Minister of Special Development Initiatives, Mavis Hawa Koomson, who is also the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East (Kasoa) shooting incident in her constituency.

The Minister admitted on Monday that she fired a warning shot that marred the voter registration exercise at Kasoa in self-defence.

But Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante has called for her resignation for acting dishonourably.

Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show, 'Ghana Montie', the Chairman of the National Peace Council recalled his interaction with a Senior Officer that suggests that Presidential Candidates are the main cause of Ghana’s political turbulence.

“In that seminar, a Senior Police officer said all these problems are from the various presidential candidates. They are the people who will bus people, they are the people who put people around to places to intimidate. Let’s not do that and show good leadership,”  he told host Kwesi Aboagye.
