Hawa Koomson Will Not Escape Jail Term Under Mahama Govt - Sammy Gyamfi

National Communication Officer of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has counted at least three (3) criminal offences against Hon Hawa Koomson in the shooting incident at a registration centre in Kasoa.

According to Sammy Gyamfi, the burning of the motorbikes is a criminal offence in Act 29 of the Criminal Offences Act, constituting unlawful damage; thus, the Minister for Special Development Initiatives will be charged with this crime.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Sammy Gyamfi again asserted that the Awutu-Senya East lawmaker will be charged with section 198 of the Criminal Offences Act as she led hoodlums to brutalise innocent people at the registration centres as it is termed as rioting in the Criminal Offences Act.

He added that the third criminal offence committed by Mavis Hawa Koomson has to do with her firing unlicensed gun without a permit from any authority.

“ . . She committed more than three criminal offences and that is why we are calling for her arrest and subsequent prosecution and dismissal,” he explained.

Sammy Gyamfi claimed that the conduct of Hon Mavis Hawa Koomson is criminal as there was no attack on her life for her to think of defending herself with an unlicensed gun; reiterating that there was no eminent threat on her life as the registration was peaceful before she stormed there with her thugs.

". . There was no eminent threat on her life,” he mentioned.

To him, it will not come as a surprise if the Minister continues to occupy her position without any arrest and eventual prosecution due to the fact that laws don’t work in the country under President Akufo-Addo.

"...we are serving the notice that they should mark the date down that this government will leave power one day and crime has no expiry date and so in the next NDC government, we will jail Hawa Koomson; she will be arrested, prosecuted and jailed for the criminal she is. All the crimes she has committed and those she has wounded, she will pay for her crimes”, he assured.
