NDC Running Mate Brings "Decency, Dignity & Respect", Not Subtle Jabs… - Campaign Spokesperson

Spokesperson for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Campaign team for election 2020, James Agyenim-Boateng says the Running Mate of the NDC Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was not selected to throw jabs.

According to him, quite apart from her credentials and qualifications, Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s selection is to bring to the table "decency, dignity and respect for all" as well as inclusion and representation.

Speaking in an interview with JoyNews, James Agyenim-Boateng touted her achievements describing her as a respected academic who has devoted many years of her life to lecturing and training people. He added that she is the most qualified

She has contributed a great deal to public service. As minister for education, she cornered very innovative list of policies that produced the desired outcomes...she is the most qualified person on the political landscape for the position as Running Mate," he said.

He dismissed suggestions that Prof Naana  Opoku-Agyemang has no connection with the party base.

“I have not heard any raise any issue about her connecting with the party. She was a minister of state in the NDC. She is a professor of many years; stayed in the lecture hall and trained many of the people who today are in political offices. Are you by that suggesting that she is not or those people are better qualifiers than she is? I don’t think so. Our opponents have the right to think the way they want to think but today if you look at the political landscape, how many professors of her calibre do we have on the political landscape today?”

“How many women have risen to the level that she has? How many of our politicians, male or female have done many years plus in the lecture halls, lecture theatres training people, grooming them, modelling them and shaping them up and making them take up all sorts of courses and professions?”

While bemoaning the fact that the highest political office in the country has been reduced to throwing of jabs and tantrums, Mr Agyenim-Boateng was of the strong position that Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang will not tow that line.

What she brings to Ghanaian politics today is decency, dignity, respect for all. It is not about throwing jabs; there is a job to be done, there is life to be improved and she brings a lot of those things to the table and so if those who expected her to throw jabs and tantrums, I am sorry to disappoint you”, he stated.
