Second Phase Of COVID- 19 Fumigation Exercise Hits Kpando

The second phase of the nationwide COVID-19 fumigation exercise has hit the Kpando Township with disinfection and cleaning of public places of interest.

The exercise, which was awarded to Danworld some few months ago to disinfect all public places across the country was supported by Zoomlion Waste Management Limited, Kpando Assembly and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).

Mr. Adams Yaw Bunbunke, Kpando Municipal Environmental Health Officer, disclosed that to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the three-day exercise which began in the Volta and Oti Regions from July 28 to August 01, 2020 would begin with disinfection of the various lorry parks, markets, public seating areas, public toilets, and slaughter houses in the Municipality.

He said the exercise which was to ensure the safety of Ghanaians in the trying times through cleanliness would also undertake a de-ratting exercise to kill rats, cockroaches and other harmful insects and rodents in the markets.

Mr Bunbunke said the exercise would be extended to the various offices and health facilities in the Municipality on day two.

He said the exercise would be climaxed with a general clean up exercise in the Municipality, where drains and gutters would be flushed and called on all residents of the Municipality to avail themselves for the exercise to help win the fight against the novel coronavirus.

The exercise, which started on Sunday, July 19 2020 and expected to cover all the 16 regions would end on Saturday, August 01, 2020.
