Plau Division Of Yilo Klo Gets New Chief

The Plau Division also known as Plau Kane, one of the six divisions in the Yilo Klo Traditional Area, has formally introduced a 36-year-old Mr Eric Tetteh Djaba, as the new divisional chief.
The other divisions are Bunase, Okper, Nyewer, Ogome and Kplade.

The new divisional chief, with the stool name Nene Tetteh Agblezee IV, has replaced the immediate past divisional chief, Nene Tetteh Agblezee III, who passed in May, this year.

Nene Agblezee III, popularly known as King Jaja, became the Plau divisional chief in 1964 at the age of 16, and ruled for 56 years until his demise.

Custom

Per the Krobo custom, Nene Agblezee III has to be replaced before his funeral ceremony. The kingmakers and elders of the Plau Division unanimously and, without any controversy, settled on Mr Eric Tetteh Djaba, a Work Superintendent at the Cocoa Research Institute, to be the new divisional chief.

The head of the division, Numo Kwablah Kumi Agblezee, at a brief ceremony to introduce Nene Agblezee IV at Somanya, stated that the Plau Division from time immemorial was noted for peace and harmony.

He, therefore, called on every member of the Plau Division to come together for the development of the area.

Other family heads, who witnessed the ceremony, included; Numo Isaac Djaba (Setse), Numo Patrick Kumi (Weku Matse), Seyelor Kwao Akitiwa and Matthew Djaba (Weku Nokotama).

Unity

The in-coming divisional chief, for his part, called for support and unity to continue with what their forefathers started.

‘‘Plau Kane, our division in Yilo Klo, is known for unity and togetherness. We are the same people and I plead with everybody in the division to let us continue just like my predecessor and those before him did,” he pleaded.

He urged each and everyone to assist him to lift high the flag of Plau, adding ‘‘I also have my plans and programmes for the division.’’
