Voter Registration Violence: I've Confidence In The Police To Bring Culprits To Book – Akwatia NPP PC

NPP Parliamentary candidate of Akwatia constituency, Ernest Kumi has expressed confidence in the Ghana Police Service to bring to book all persons who violated the country’s laws during the voter registration exercise.

According to him, the Police are capable to arrest all the suspects.

His statement comes on the heels of a similar assurance given by the Police.

The Ghana Police Service has assured it will not shield any person found culpable in perpetrating violence during the voters’ registration exercise.

This is due to concerns by a section of the general public about the pockets of chaos that were recorded during the exercise which left two people dead.

Mr. Kumi urged the Police to be true to their word ensuring the culprits face the full rigors of the law.

Speaking on UTV’s 'Adekye Nsroma' programme, he said, “it is welcoming news and their decision is in line with their duties because it is their responsibility to protect citizens to reduce the incidents of crime in the country. If the Police are able to arrest all the culprits, it will serve as a deterrent to others. I have hope in the current police administration and believe they can do it because their works recently inspire confidence. They have been resourced enough by the government to help them execute their duties. I’m optimistic the Police will work and bring all the culprits to book”.
