Mahama Promises To Complete Eastern Corridor Road In His Next Government

The Presidential Candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President John Mahama has promised to complete the Eastern Corridor road in his next government in 2021 when voted back into power.

According to him, he speaks with regret that he could not complete the famous Eastern Corridor road project before he left office in 2016, but added that if the NDC had continued in office, today, he would have completed the road.

Speaking in the Volta Region to a gathering, former President John Mahama revealed that by the time the NDC left office, all segments of the Eastern Corridor road were being worked on and so he will continue when he is given the nod to continue his infrastructural development.

“My one regret is that we didn’t complete this famous eastern corridor road before we left but by the time we left, all segments of it were being worked on. I believe that if the NDC had continued in the office today we won’t be talking about the eastern corridor road,” he said.

“It would have been completed but as I have announced in several places that I have gone; it is the number one priority for us. This is because it is an important link between the northern and southern part of our country,” he added.

The NDC Flagbearer added that it was God’s way to allow Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP in government in order for Ghanaians to appreciate the value of what the Mahama led NDC Government did when they were in power.

“ . . it was God’s way of letting us appreciate the value of what we had because I have always said that if we did not have the opportunity of seeing Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP in government, we would not appreciate the work that the NDC did when we were in office,” he stated.

Former President John Mahama said that when it comes to the track records with development, infrastructure, schools, education, electricity, water, and roads, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has nothing to compare with.

“Indeed, the President himself said that this election is a comparison of track record and I said yes, we are prepared to have that comparison of the track record because when it comes to the track record with development, infrastructure, schools, education, electricity, water, roads, the NPP has nothing to compare with,” he dared.
