But for the swift move and bravery of a woman delegate, Mr. Michael Teye Nyaunu, New Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Constituency (MP) and lead campaigner of the Nana Konadu Campaign team would have been lynched by angry delegates from Akuse at a meeting at the Akuse Club house last Sunday.
Mr. Nyaunu had organized the meeting to canvass for votes for Nana Konadu and himself. The paper learnt that the angry delegates wanted to lynch Mr. Nyaunu, as they could no longer absorb the insults and lies he was peddling about the President, Professor Mills at the meeting, as well as his poor performance as an MP.
During the ensuing melee, Mr. Nyaunu was whisked away from the meeting into his official vehicle, as the lady delegate, Azumi Adesa, managed to close the door of the meeting room to keep the angry Akuse delegates, who were pursuing him at bay to avoid bloodshed. Enquirer gathered that what infuriated the delegates the most, after Mr. Nyaunu had failed to give good account of his stewardship, was his attempt to bribe them with cutlasses as he has always done. �Mr. Teye Nyaunu cannot buy our conscience by giving cutlasses because he failed us as MP�, a delegate pointed out.
The Enquirer was told that Mr. Nyaunu disclosed at the meeting that the Asantehene has indicated his preparedness to support Konadu if she wins the NDC Presidential primaries, but rather will work against Prof Mills� bid in the coming elections if he wins the primaries.
The paper was told by delegates that he has not fulfilled his promises as Member of Parliament for the area and they are bent on changing him as their legislator for the Lower Manya Constituency come 2012 elections.
However, the constituency chairman and Secretary of the NDC in the Lower Manya Constituency, Mr. Adamtey and Mr. Felix Amanor respectively, took to their heels during the melee, thereby bringing the meeting to an abrupt end. The delegates explained that Mr. Teye Nyaunu has performed abysmally ever since he was given the mandate as their MP and they could not understand why he should continue to lambast Prof. Mills, a president they believe is doing creditably well within his two years in office, as compared to NPPs first yeas in office.
