AIDE TO President Mills, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has descended on the latest NDC presidential candidate aspirant, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, telling the latter to check his character. According to him, Dr. Gabrah�s character might have something to do with his absence in President Mills� government. �If Dr. Spio-Garbrah is not a member of the Mills� government then it may have something to do with his character,� Nii Lantey told Omanhene of Kessben Fm in Kumasi in a chat. Dr. Spio-Garbrah, a leading member of the NDC has still not been appointed to any ministerial position more than two years after the Mills administration took over political power. Nii Lantey without mincing words said Dr. Spio-Garbrah might be ineffective, that is why perhaps the president has not given him any political position. �Dr. Garbrah once worked with President Mills as a minister therefore if he had been effective the president would have seen it and given him a leading position in his administration,� he explained. Nii Lantey said his continual absence from the Mills� government could as well be an indication that Dr. Spio-Garbrah is not a team player. Spio-Garbrah returned from his London base recently to contest the NDC flag bearer ship position alongside incumbent President Mills and former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings. He is said to have recently lambasted President Mills for surrounding himself with people who are refusing to tell him the truth, a development which is creating problems for the presidency. In a sharp response, Nii Lantey said that assertion is nothing but false aimed at discrediting the government in the eyes of right thinking members of society so nobody should believe him. Baffled by the harsh comments, Nii Lantey asked whether Dr. Spio-Garbrah who has been away in London thinks he is more abreast with truth in the country than those dwelling here. He noted that President Mills has not surrounded himself with people who are economical with the truth as is being portrayed by Dr. Spio-Garbrah and urged the populace to treat the issue with contempt.
