Cocoa Goes Digital

Vice President Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has joined the board and management of COCOBOD to launch cocoa management system that will create database of cocoa farmers and their farms aimed at eliminating favoritism in the distribution of farm products to farmers. 

According to the Vice President, the system will also help government to work on cocoa farmer’s pension scheme.

He said this system will give the farmer a card that will make all their transactions visible and transparent.

Dr Bawumia stressed that the Akufo-Addo government is committed to building a formalized and all inclusive economy that will generate enormous benefits for the citizenry.

The Vice President made this statement at the launch of the cocoa management system by COCOBOD in Accra.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the COCOBOD, Joseph Boahen Aidoo also indicated the importance of the system explaining that this flagship program will biometrically capture information of farmers and the condition of their farms as well.

The National President of Ghana Cocoa, Coffee and Shea-Nut Farmers Association, Alhaji Alhassan Bukari expressed gratitude to the government for the measures to address the welfare of farmers.
