Golden Star Wassa Mine Support Farmers In Wassa East, Mpohor & Twifo-Atii Morkwa Districts With Equipment Worth Ghc80,000

Managing Director of Golden Star Wassa Mine in the Wassa East District of the Western Region, Mr Shadrach Adjetey Sowah, has said agriculture which is the backbone of Ghana's economy need to be improved in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to be able to eradicate hunger in the country.

According to him farmers in the rural communities need to be encouraged and supported to be able to work hard and produce more food.

He has therefore assured of Golden Star Wassa Mine's commitment to supporting the government to be able to train local farmers and reward them during Farmers' Day celebrations to encourage others to venture into agriculture.

Mr Adjetey Sowah made this remarks when the company supplied Wassa East, Mpohor and Twifo-Atii Morkwa districts with aboboyaa, wheel barrows, bicycles, Wellington boots, cutlasses and sewing machines worth Eighty Thousand (GHc 80,000) Ghana cedis to reward farmers in their catchment areas during this year Farmers' Day celebration.

DCE for Wassa East, Hon. Wilson Arthur who spoke on behalf of the Assemblies commended the company for the support they always give to farmers in the area and stressed on government's commitment to improve the life of farmers in the country through the introduction of Planting for Food and Jobs, cocoa mass spraying, pollination among others to be able to improve agriculture in the country.
