Volta Group Condemn Vice President of The Volta Regional House of Chiefs Over Security Comment

A group called Tongu Youth for Peace and Development has condemned Torgbe Patamia Dzekle V1, Vice President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs (VRHC) and paramount Chief of the Battor Traditional Area for calling on the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to withdraw security personnel from the Region ahead of the December polls.

It would be recalled that members of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs appealed to President Akufo-Addo to withdraw security personnel deployed to the Region.

A statement signed by the Vice President of the House said the personnel had since not been recalled despite calm returning to the area.

The House believed the continuous presence of personnel in the area will drive fear in the upcoming general elections.

However, the Tongu Youth for Peace and Development has asked the Vice President of the House of Chiefs, Torgbe Patamia Dzekle VI to retract the statement and apologize to the indigenes of the Region because you can’t call for peace without the presence of the security.

The Convener for the Volta Youth for Peace and Development, Sylvester Yevugah, speaking to Peace FM’s reporter, Pious Baidoo Banson, said the presence of the security personnel is part of measures to maintain peace and order.

“So how could a whole Chief call on the President to withdraw them?” he rhetorically asked.

Sylvester Yevugah also apologized to the people of the Region and prayed for peace before, during and after the elections.
