Mahama's Election Petition Is A "Ruse And Face-Saving Gimmick" - Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Second Respondent in the Election Petition filed by Former President John Dramani Mahama has asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the petition because it's not backed by facts

The instant action is a ruse and face-saving gimmick by the petitioner after the petitioner and many senior members of the NDC party had prematurely claimed outright victory in the election, only to be badly exposed by results of the 1st respondent (EC), corroborated by all media houses of note in the country as well as many independent local and international observers,” President Akufo-Addo argued.

The President who was speaking in response to the petition through his lawyers; dated 8 January 2021, also indicated: “…that Petitioner’s persistent and strange claim to being entitled to all the votes of registered voters in Techiman South, contrary to Petitioner’s knowledge that the actual results from that constituency were declared shortly after 1st Respondent’s statement in Exhibit A, is not only mischievous but a deliberate attempt to mislead this Honourable court".
