I Applaud NDC For Going To Court - Charles Owusu

Head of Operations at the Forestry Commission, Charles Owusu has lauded the oppostion National Democratic Congress (NDC) for resorting to the Supreme Court to address their election grievances.

Charles Owusu was happy that the NDC and their Presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama have heeded the calls to act lawfully instead of inciting their supporters to hit the streets in protest against the election verdict.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was declared President-elect by the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Jean Mensa following the 2020 Presidential elections on Monday, December 7.

But the opposition party has challenged the victory of the President stressing the election results are flawed and fictional.

However, the President was sworn in on Thursday, January 7, 2021 but the NDC says they will not recognize him as Head of State, hence challenging his legitimacy in court.

The first hearing of the case was held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 where the party sought to amend a mistake in their petition.

The court granted them the motion to amend their petition with regard to a relief that the party wants a second election to be held between their Presidential candidate, John Mahama and the EC Chairperson instead of saying with the President, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Commenting on the issue on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Charles Owusu said; "I'm happy and I commend them for resorting to the court."

He was also optimistic the Supreme Court will deliver a fair judgment on the case.

"I am sure the Supreme Court will give a fair verdict," he stressed.
