"This Is Not About NDC, NPP Or Any Political Party!" - Nhyiaeso MP

Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr Stephen Amoah has called on the government and health experts in the country to come up with a research model to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

There is a sudden rise in Ghana's case count with the country currently recording confirmed cases of 58,065 with 55,789 Recoveries/Discharge and 352 deaths.

There are 351 new cases resulting in 1,924 active cases.

President Nana Akufo-Addo has admonished Ghanaians to strictly observe the COVID-19 safety protocols or may face another lockdown.

''We do not want to go back to the days of partial lockdowns, which had a negative impact on our economy and on our way of life. But should that become necessary, i.e., should the number of active cases continue to increase at the current rate, I will have no option but to re-impose these restrictions because it is better to be safe than to be sorry. So, together, let us all ensure that we respect the protocols'',  the President said in his 22nd nation update on COVID-19.

Also touching on the issue, the Nhyiaeso MP says there should be a guiding principle to check new variants of the disease and also help the government to adopt a contingency plan to mitigate the disease in the offing.

Speaking to host Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Hon. Stephen Amoah further advised against politicizing the COVID-19 situation in Ghana but called for a collective consensus to curb the disease.

''This a national issue...We've gotten to the level where people are dying. So, this is not about NDC, NPP or CPP or any party. This is about collective approach. This is about all of us coming together as a nation...'', he said.
