COVID-19 Protocols: Give Offenders Community Service Punishment - Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah To Security Forces

Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, a lecturer of the Central University in Accra, has charged the security agencies to punish any Ghanaian who refuses to observe the COVID-19 safety protocols.

As Ghana's case count rises, it's of extreme concern that every Ghanaian will take precaution, specifically wear nose mask, use hand sanitizers, wash hands regularly and practice social distancing among other health practices to curb the viral disease.

Coronavirus has claimed over 300 lives in the country and infected 62751 people with 58,561 Recoveries/Discharge.

President Nana Akufo-Addo has instructed the security agencies to enforce the laws on offenders of the protocols.

"In furtherance of this, I have instructed the Inspector General of Police to direct officers, men and women of the Police Service to ensure the rigorous enforcement of the law on mask-wearing at all public places and in public transport. They are also to ensure the closure of all night clubs, pubs, cinemas and beaches that may be operating in defiance of the law. They will be assisted by the other security agencies, if need be," he said.

Making his submissions on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah says offenders should be given community service punishment.

He noted that there is too much filth in the country and so called on the security forces to use the offenders to clean the land and distill waterbodies to keep Ghana clean and hygienic.

"Ghana has even become dirty. If I'm not afraid, I could say Accra is dirtier and smellier than all the other places I've seen; all the capitals. Why don't we use the offenders to clean the places?...Give the offenders work to do. They should be used to distill Odawna River and all our dirty waterbodies," he stated.
