Former Central Minister, Kwamena Duncan has issued a reply to Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu for questioning President Nana Akufo-Addo for not addressing the LGBTQI+ issues in his State of the Nation Address.

The President delivered his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) this year on Tuesday, March 9.

He touched on achievements of his government as well as his development projections in his second term in office.

Following the President's SONA, the Minority Leader raised concerns over the President's silence on the LGBTQI controversies.

Hon. Haruna Iddrisu asked why the President didn't mention a word about the issue while delivering his speech and assured the President that Parliament will revisit the issue.

But according to Kwamena Duncan, the Minority Leader's concern is a non-starter.

This is because, to Kwamena, the President has already made his position clear on the LGBTQI+ brouhaha.

He reminded Hon. Haruna Iddrisu of the President's statements at an Anglican Church at Asante Mampong, Ashanti Region, where he emphatically stated his government won't legalize homosexuality.

"I have said this before, let me in conclusion stress again, that it will not be under the presidency of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that same-sex marriage will be legal, that same-sex marriage will be legalized in Ghana, it will never happen in my time as President.”

"Let me repeat, it will never happen in my time as President," President Akufo-Addo emphasized.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Kwamena Duncan asked Hon. Haruna Iddrisu; ''what else do you want Akufo-Addo to say?''

He wondered why the Minority Leader would revive the issue when the President has ''spoken and spoken loudly'' against it.
