There's No Controversy In NPP - Nana B Attacks Critics

National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly called Nana B says there is no controversy in the party.

According to him, the hullabaloo about who becomes the next Presidential candidate for the NPP is only about people showing their ambitions.

His comment is in connection with the seeming contest from the camps of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen.

Their supporters earnestly crave their candidate to win the bid to lead the party into the 2024 general elections.

The contest for the flagbearer position led the Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Suame, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu to incur the wrath of some members and supporters of the NPP when he made a comment to the effect that it's about time the party considered someone who is not an Akan.

"Inwardly, I know I have the competence to lead the party but is it wise that after two Akans – former President Kufuor and current President Akufo-Addo – to present a flagbearer candidate with different ethnicity . . . I think it is not good for a party which has been accused by some as being overly Akanistic in nature. But not everybody would agree with me and that is the beauty of democracy,” he is quoted to have said in an interview.

But, according to Nana B, what is going on in the NPP doesn't indicate disharmony.

He stressed that there are no cracks in the NPP.

"If someone has an ambition, it doesn't mean controversy. It is the NDC that there is controversy, cracks and even cadres popping up. There is no controversy in the NPP," he told sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesseh during Friday's edition of 'Kokrokoo' on Peace FM.
