#Fixthecountry: Kojo Oppong Nkrumah Hits Back At Convener

"The fact that the issues have been talked about doesn't mean they have been solved," Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has told one of the #FixTheCountry Conveners, Oliver Barker-Vormawor.

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta at a press conference on Sunday, detailed how the government is fixing the economy through numerous interventions.

Oliver Barker-Vormawor reacting to this in an interview on Joy News said Ghanaians need concrete actions to be taken and not speeches.

“I don’t think people are at the point where they feel or are convinced that this speech alone does it. I think the people want something substantive in action,” he indicated.

However, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah in an interview on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' programme said Oliver's comment means he doesn't understand the issues raised.

"The speech made by the Finance Minister doesn't mean that the problems have been solved . . . there are a number of things which need to be fixed and it will be taken one at a time. But talking about it doesn't mean they have been solved. The Finance Minister only emphasized what the government is doing," he explained.

Timelines

Reacting to timelines for the project listed by government, he said, "different projects have different timelines" adding "the good thing is that the conversation has been opened up and I urge that it won't turn into a political match where an entrenched position is taken . . . this is an opportunity for progress and development in the country . . . if we are able to do this void of politics, we can achieve a lot".
