Betty Mould-Iddrisu, a former minister of education in the John Mahama administration says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presented a solid case in terms of constitutional interpretation during the 2020 election petition.

Speaking in an interview on Asaase Radio, Mould-Iddrisu said, “We followed the constitution… we followed the law and the process of getting justice done. I leave it to the good people of Ghana to judge whether justice was really done. We had an absolute rock-solid case in terms of constitutional interpretation…” 

John Mahama, the flagbearer of the NDC in the 2020 presidential election said at the party’s professional forum that the NDC would have won the court case if they had sought a review, a position Mould-Iddrisu supports.

“He (John Mahama) is our leader so I share whatever opinion it is that he shares. But there was no appetite for a review,” the former attorney general and minister of justice said.

Touching on the 2020 election petition, Mould-Iddrisu said: “The lesson is that next time we must win power… so that we are never subjected to this again. We must win convincingly and decisively no matter what the Electoral Commission (EC) tries to do.”
