Bono Region: Minister Calls For Self-help Spirit To Spread Development.

The Bono Regional Minister Justina Owusu-Banahene has called on traditional leaders and other stakeholders to unite and direct their efforts towards the development of the country through self-help.

She reiterated that government is unable to rely solely on its sources of funds to finance projects in all the communities across the country.

Justina Owusu-Banahene disclosed this when she commissioned a 6 unit classroom block at Yawhima in the Sunyani East Municipality.

Accompanying her were the Regional Cordinator for the Ghana School Feeding Programme also second vice chairperson Doris Asoma, the Regional Treasurer Alhaji Allabey, Bashuru Wahab regional Nassara Cordinator and other officials.

Justina Owusu-Banahene exlained in her remarks that; the self-help approach would be a mechanism where the community members would by themselves, identify a need and mobilize resources to start and the government would assist technically with advice, equipment and other support.

This according to her, would speed up development at the grassroots and compliment government’s efforts to concentrate on the more big projects as well as committing the people to take good care of their own projects.

The project was funded by the Rotary Foundation Global Grant through Rotary club, Sunyani East and its International partners.
