Ejura Violence: Avoid Political Influence- Ejura Chief To Protesting Youth

The Paramount Chief of Ejura Traditional Area, Barima Osei Hwedie ll, has charged protesting youth at Ejura not to make any room for politicians to politicize the murder of Ibrahim Mohammed (Macho Kaaka), because murder has no political colours.

Angry Youth of Ejura on Tuesday went berserk to demand justice for a social media activist, Ibrahim Mohammed (Macho Kaaka) who was murdered by some unknown assailants.

However, the planned protest turned bloody resulting in the death of two and injury of four others.

Speaking in an interview, Barima Osei Hwedie ll who visited some of the shooting victims at the Ejura Government Hospital explained that involving politics in the incident is likely to mar the success of the investigation and therefore called on the youth to exercise patience since investigations have begun into the matter.

The traditional Authority in the area is ready to team up with the Police to investigate the murder of Macho Kaaka, adding that the culprits will be dealt with.

He said he was surprised at the turn of events yesterday which according to him brought tension in the town.

"The youth had earlier visited me in the morning to petition me on the death of their colleague, and the Traditional Authorities also assured them of their maximum support in bringing the culprits to book, but the beauty of the engagement was marred by this deadly violence,” he said.

Currently, calm has been restored.

In another development, the Ejura Municipal Police Command is appealing to the General Public to provide them with any available information to enable them arrest culprits who are connected to the murder of Macho Kaaka.

Ibrahim Mohammed (Kaaka) a social media activist was attacked by unknown persons on Sunday and passed away on Monday sparking a protest to demand justice by some youth in Ejura.

According to DSP Philip Kojo Hammond, the police are making extra efforts to arrest culprits, but he believes giving them leads can make their work less difficult.

The police are not ready to make known to the public their whistleblowers and therefore anyone with a hint can come to them with the needed information.

Reacting to the killing of the two protestors and the injuring of others, DSP Kojo Hammond said though the police are not taking the blame, they are sympathizing with the victims' families for this unplanned incident.

Currently, the town is safe and calm as residents are going about their normal duties peacefully.
