Economy Will Pick Up Very Soon - John Kumah Assures Ghanaians
Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah says the administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is appreciative of the difficulties Ghanaians are going through in the country.
According to the Member of Parliament for Ejisu Constituency, the hardship being experienced by Ghanaians is a global phenomenon as a result of the outbreak of the Covid-19 which has affected the world economy including Ghana.
He stressed that the government has not increased any tax on importation except that the cost of transportation of goods into the country, especially from China is on the ascendency, hence, affecting the cost of products and living in the country.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, John Kumah noted that Ghanaians are experiencing hardship due to the delay in the appointment of Chief Executive Officers of state Enterprises and the various boards that approve expenditures.
“The government is still forming its governance structure and that has become a factor causing hardship in the country,” he indicated.
He, however, intimated that the economy of the country in a very short time will pick up as all the economic indicators show that the economy is getting better.
He further pleaded with Ghanaians to be patient with the administration of President Akufo-Addo as things will soon get better due to the proper fiscal measures that have been put in place.
" . . the feedback we are getting shows that things will pick up very soon. Even though the vaccination is not going the way we want, we know that Ghana is still one of the best countries in the world that are managing the Covid-19 very well. We are praying that we would be able to contain it and the many financial challenges that it has bought to Ghanaians will be reduced,” he assured.
