Hon. Ben Abdallah Banda Reiterates President Akufo-Addo’s Unwavering Commitment to Zongo Development

Coordinator for Zongo Development, Hon. Ben Abdallah Banda has reiterated President Akufo-Addo’s Unwavering Commitment towards Zongo Development at the grand finale of the 2021 Kumasi Inter-Zongo Sallah Gala at ABOABO in the Asawase Constituency.

In his address to the youth, he said “permit me to seize this opportunity to reiterate the commitment of the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia towards the development of our Zongo Communities, which forms part of the reasons for bringing the Zongo Development under the office of the President.”

He added that, as part of the Government’s effort to realize the wishes and aspirations of the Zongo people, the Government is constructing Astro Turfs in Zongo communities so as to unearth football talents that Zongo has been blessed with. He further promised to make sure that the stalled AstroTurf project in ABOABO is completed, so the youth can have the opportunity to play the Sallah galla on it in subsequent years.

Hon. Banda commended the organizers of the 24year-old annual Sallah gala, and added that the activity helps to improve the local economy, brings about social cohesion, love, and peace among the communities. He finally admonished them to be of good behavior and to refrain from activities that the law of the country frowns upon and supported them with jerseys, football, and some undisclosed amount of money.

Hon. Ben Abdallah Banda, former MP for Offinso South was appointed as the Coordinator for Zongo development under the Office of the President. His appointment follows the government’s decision to make the Ministry of Zongo and Inner Cities Development a Secretariat under the Office of the President.
