Do You Know What Coup Means? - Kwesi Pratt Blasts Ghanaians Hoping For Guinea Situation In Ghana

Seasoned Journalist, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. is utterly shocked that some Ghanaians wish for a coup to happen in the nation.

On Sunday, September 5, 2021, an elite unit headed by a former French legionnaire, Lt Col Mamady Doumbouya took over the reins of the People’s Republic of Guinea.

The Military unit calling themselves the National Committee for Reconciliation and Development detained the country's President Alpha Condé, indicating they have dissolved the constitution.

After news broke about the Guinean coup, some Ghanaians took to social media complimenting the Military and believing in the possibility of a coup d'état in Ghana.

"Fix the Country" group leader, Barker-Vormaqor, posted on his Facebook page saying “Neho! I welcome the news of a military coup in Guinea. Still waiting on confirmation of its success. Hopefully a new transition process is put in place quickly. Guinea shall work again”.

Touching on the issue during Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', he asked such citizens if they have ever witnessed the overthrow of a government before and its repercussions.

He noted that those coup d'état proponents indeed knew what happens in coup situations, they wouldn't wish it happened in the country.

"Do you know what coup means? Have you seen a coup before that you want it to happen in this country?" he questioned.

He recounted some of his experiences during the coup era in Ghana stating, in such situations, it is the ordinary people who suffer the most.

"Coup is not the solution to our economic problems. The solution is common sense. We have to plan our things properly to relieve people . . . the people of Ghana are not demanding anything extraordinary. What the people of Ghana want are very simple basic things that everybody in the world wants for themselves. That's all!"
