What Do You Need A Cinema In a Private Jet For? Are You Going To Watch Esmeralda or Kumchacha? - Akufo-Addo Queried

A member of the Communication Team of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Maadi Jibril, has criticized President Akufo-Addo for being "insensitive" to the plights of Ghanaians.

According to him, it was wrong for the President to allegedly rent a second private jet after a public outcry over the first one.

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, alleged that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo spent a whopping GH¢3.46 million on a private jet on his recent trips to England and Germany.

This was after public outrage over the government's decision to spend over GHC2.4 million in May on another private jet when the President was going to France, Belgium and South Africa.

“Using the conservative rate of US$14,000 per hour, the two trips to the UK and Germany which require some 28 hours of travel distance in and out plus an additional 13 hours of pick up and drop off time, the taxpayer has been burdened again to the colossal tune of US$574,000.00. At the current exchange rate, that is a staggering 3.46million Ghana Cedis,” Ablakwa said in a post on Facebook

Maadi Jibril contributing to a panel discussion on Neat FM's 'Me Man Nti' programme, queried: "You don't need anything at this age . . . renting a private jet even after Ghanaians spoke against it; you didn't give them any respect and rented a second one all because you're the President . . . and with this second one; not only does it have a bath but also a cinema. What do you need a cinema for? Is it to watch Esmeralda or Kumchacha; this is the leader who wants to protect the public purse?".
