Hajia Mariama Bawumia

Hajia Mariama was a past student of Wesley Girls Senior High School, in Cape Coast. She was fortunate to be the first Northern female student to enroll in Wesley Girls in her time.

In a congratulatory message on the occasion of her 80th well celebrated birthday, Dr. Bawumia, the loving son of Hajia Mariama Bawumia, alias Maame, expressed how his dear mother has been a pillar behind him for all the years of his life.

Dr. Bawumia explained how his mother has been behind him even after the death of his father.

Hajia Mariama, according to Dr. Bawumia, laid a very good foundation for his life, and that is the reason why he has gotten to where he is today.

Hajia did not leave, the then Mahamudu, to loiter about even as his father had kicked the bucket. He said, the love of a mother is enormous. Nothing can be compared to it.

Though she was still young when his husband, Alhaji Bawumia, died and left the children in only her care, she did not give up taking good care of them, as many as they were.

Dr. Bawumia is the 13th child among 19 children of his parents.
