Jubilation In Dome-Kwabenya As Kaakie Mann Is Nominated For MCE

The largest constituency in the country, Dome-Kwabenya erupted into jubilation with the announcement of Elizabeth Kaakie Mann as the President's nominee as Chief Executive for the Ga East Municipal Assembly.

The much awaited list of nominees for Chief Executive Positions in the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives for the 260 districts in the country was released by the Ministry of Local Goverment and Rural Development earlier today.

His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo finalised the list of nominees who will represent him in the various Districts across the country on Thursday with the names of nominees forwarded to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Friday morning.

The Ministry in collaboration with the Ministry of Information organised a joint press conference today to discuss reasons for the delay; the main intention of the president as to why he wanted the MMDCEs elected, the need to ensure peace after the naming and the need for all other MMDCEs aspirants to help work with the chosen ones in order to break the eight after which the list was posted on the official website of the Information Ministry.

Many residents of Ga East were in a jubilant mood after the release of the list with celebrations by supporters of Kaakie and Party faithful seen across the length and breath of Dome-Kwabenya.

Madam Elizabeth Kaakie Mann who was nominated by the vetting Committee is expected to balance the ethnic composition of the constituency.

She is a dedicated member of the New Pariotic Party who has a long standing relationship with the party faithful having worked actively during the 2020 general elections.

She has great appeal across the ethnic groups in the constituency and was the secretary to the General Secretary from 2008-2014. She was a member of the Dome-Kwabenya’s Women’s Wing from 2016 and is expected to work hand in hand with the Member of Parliament, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo to champion the development of the Ga East Municipality.

Kaakie will have to be confirmed by no less than two thirds of the General Assembly which consists of 10 Assembly Members and 5 Government Appointees of Ga East before her formal appointment.
