The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi has engaged Ghanaian athlete Martha Bissah to settle an impasse with the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA).

Bissah who remains Ghana’s youth Olympic gold medalist accused the Ghana Athletics Association of extortion while working on a scholarship for her to study in the USA.

This was after her spectacular performance at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.

She was handed an indefinite suspension in 2016 by the Ghana Athletics Association for indiscipline and bringing the name of the association into disrepute with false allegations.

And for the six years ban to be lifted, the association directed Bissah to apologize of which she is yet to do so.

And for the impasse to be settled amicably and enable the athlete to return to the tracks for Ghana, Professor Peter Twumasi, as part of efforts to secure a pardon and subsequent lifting of the over six-year suspension sanction met Martha Bissah for a dialogue.

Though it is not known whether Martha Bissah agreed to issue an apology to the Ghana Athletics Association, the meeting is said to have ended in success.

Kyfilla.com understands that already the National Sports Authority, led by Professor Peter Twumasi,  is in talks with both parties to arrive at an amicable settlement to enable the athlete to return to the tracks.

Professor Peter Twumasi was assisted by the Authority’s Counselling Unit led by Ms Stephanie Antonia Esshun.
