UGSRC WOCOM,USAG,FMSA And Worship Aid Partner Pink For Africa To Create Awareness On Breast Cancer

University of Ghana Students Representative Council in partnership with Pink for Africa,University Students Association of Ghana,Worship Aid and Federation of Medical Students Association has urged women across the country to go for regular breast checkups for early detection and treatment of possible cancer development.

They visited University of Ghana, legon to interact with over 150 female and male students on breast cancer awareness and took turns to teach the students signs of breast cancer, how to examine oneself, the necessary steps to take should one detect a problem and need to intensify awareness on the prevention of possible breast cancer among women in the country.

The President of Pink for Africa, a breast cancer foundation, Mrs. Juliette Mills Lutterodt is in Ghana from the United States creating awareness on breast cancer. As a survivor of breast cancer told the students of her own experiences with breast cancer. She educated the students on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.

She commenced the talk by informing them a bit better on the work conducted by Breast awareness as well as to promote education and awareness on the importance of breast health amongst women of all ages.

She then went on to explain the initial symptoms of breast cancer with the use of a helpful leaflet. She also used a mannequin rubber breast to demonstrate how to check yourself properly. She explained the importance of checking approximately every month to try and detect anything unusual early on.

Pink for Africa is a nonprofit organization created to educate women in Africa on breast cancer and spread awareness extensively.

The foundation is made up of several comprehensive programs and dedicated personnel who are working tirelessly both in Ghana and the United states to make sure women in Africa are educated on breast cancer, made aware of the benefits of self examination and early detection and offered medical help when diagnosed.

The Womens Commissioner of University Students Association of Ghana(USAG),Amtu Akumfi Ameyaw stated that the need for the youth to be sensitized on cancers especially breast cancer is needful.

She noted it will help the younger generation, especially students, to become aware of the devastating consequences of the disease and the urgent need to avoid having the same.
