Government To Use Oil Revenue For Benefit of Ghanaians

Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, the Western Regional Minister, has said the government would ensure that the oil wealth impacted greatly on the lives of majority of the people. He said this in an address read for him at a durbar to climax the 20th anniversary celebration of Baidoo Bonsoe Senior High Technical School at Agona Nkwanta. The celebration was under the theme �The Oil find in Western Region-Its implications for Secondary education in the Ahanta West District.� Mr. Aidoo said the government would manage funds from the oil prudently and equitably to improve the lives of the people. Mr. Aidoo said the school is benefitting from the construction of a dormitory block. He said several other classroom blocks are under construction in basic schools in Miemia, Akatekyi, Anyano, Asanmasa, Aboadi, Ewusiejoe and others in the district. Mr. Aidoo said it is government�s policy to spread development throughout the country with the need factor very paramount in the distribution of these projects. Professor Daniel Mireku-Gyimah, the Vice Chancellor of University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa, said science and technological education were important for the country�s development. He asked students to take science and technological education seriously to enable them to especially take advantage of the country�s oil industry.
