Mahama Must Stop Acting Like A Spoiled, Petulant Child - Fixing The Country Movement

Ten months after an election that ended with John Mahama's loss, the NDC is still tightly yoked to his baseless claims of voter fraud.

Speaking on TV XYZ on Tuesday November 9, Mr Mahama said, “We want an independent inquiry, let’s go to ECOWAS."

“ECOWAS has an electoral body, let them come and investigate Ghana’s election of 2020. I will welcome it, I will testify. Under oath, I will swear an oath and testify. I won’t run away from the witness box.”

Much as we would want to treat Mahama's latest tantrums and the call for independent arbitration with every disdain that it deserves, we will also like to place on record that, he's acting like a spoiled petulant child.

As a matter of fact, Fixing The Country Movement takes serious offense to Mr Mahama's repeated, unfounded arguments that his loss to President Akufo-Addo was tainted with electoral irregularities.

We were all in this country when Mr Mahama made these claims after the declaration of the 2020 results. Indeed he proceeded to the Supreme Court, and with no evidence to back his claims.

Mr Mahama continue to allege electoral fraud and yet he's unable to should show up with the proof of all the 38,933 pink sheets to challenge what the Electoral Commission gazetted.

The man is clearly exhibiting a characteristics of a petulant child - the petulant Mahama — who is seeking to return in 2024 has made it his singular mission to undermine the 2020 election he irrefutably lost, promoting a series of conspiracy theories and fact-free allegations.

Mahama's comments are not only dangerous and wrong, it undermines the very foundation of our electoral system. This whole thing is never about voter fraud or irregularities- it is about undermining the people's faith in our democracy and debasing the electoral process and the judiciary. He's attempting to undermine our electoral system.

The whole system that Mahama is attacking today was fine when he was President - the Police, the Judiciary and the EC were just "perfect institutions" under him. In 2012 when he won, the system was transparent, now he loses and the system is no longer transparent?

The hallucinatory hopes Mahama harbored of reversing the outcome of the 2020 elections is quite laughable.

The election is passed, it’s been certified, the Supreme Court made decisions on the integrity of the elections and Mahama's dangerous delusions about a stolen election represent the most overt attempt in the history of the fourth republic by a Presidential candidate to overthrow the will of the voters.

The man is using his claims of electoral fraud to salvage his own ego after he lost the election and to keep himself in the political spotlight. He keeps pushing the same rhetoric simply because he want to be relevant.

Let us remind Mr Mahama that President Akufo-Addo remains the legitimate leader of Ghana. He won legally and legitimately, and it has largely been acclaimed by over 400 media houses, international observers, European Union observers and local observers like CODEO. These same agencies gave the 2012 elections that Mahama won a clean bill of health and they have done same with the 2020 elections.

We are fully aware of the fact that Mahama is desperate to stage a come back in 2024 but the question is what exactly does he have to offer Ghanaians apart from unbriddled corruption, incompetence, bad governance and dumsor?

In any case, while Mahama is at it readying himself to testify at ECOWAS over an election that the Supreme Court has adjudicated on, he should be ready to testify at the International tribunal on the AIRBUS bribery scandal that he was mentioned as government official 1.

Finally, Mahama in his book, "My first Coup d'état" wrote that danger lurks around any life decision he has taken.

Yes, we agree with him, and for that matter, we advise Mr Mahama to stop being a misbehaving schoolboy. He must get a grip on reality and understand that the fat lady has long sung as far as election 2020 is concerned.
