THE POLITICS AND THE AILING TRUTH
This what we've reduced ourselves to. Political power is a rare commodity and should be used judiciously when bestowed on a chosen party. Blaming the current government and not your beloved party, the people continuously voted and sustained the NDC in power for 27 years with nothing to show is something i can’t fathom.
It took President Kuffour to construct the phase one of Keta sea defense wall and also provided a befitting housing units for the relocation of our people but what happened? The NDC incited the people against the government, that monies used for the construction of those houses came from President Enyadéma and was blood money. Our people rejected the allocated houses and took to the streets, calling the NPP all sort of names. One would have thought, the beloved party upon gaining power at the back of all these crude allegations, would have honored our people with a befitting second phase but No, they rather abandoned the problem and many others completely, until a strong wind of change blew them off the throne.
5 years after their departure, the aged problem resurfaced but, this time in a grand style. As usual the chorus apostles of, let's cry foul and loud are all over, screaming like orphans, denied of water for survival. The genuine question is, do our politicians representing the NDC really deserve our votes? Do they have conscience? What has been the NDC's solution to our problems in the region, after voting massively and sustaining them in power for 27 years? What is the benefit of the “world Bank”, a Bank that has dole out to the NDC for 27 years, only to leave power and reduce our pride to shame.
It is only in Opposition that the NDC becomes patriotic to the people of Volta. What do we earn or benefit when they gain power from our massive votes? The NDC has left the people of Volta with bitterness and hatred, making us poor and petty.
To my party the NPP, we campaigned to prove the people wrong and the nation as a whole. The people for the first time, voted for us in all admiration. We can't let the people down and the party. Settling unnecessary scores with losers, isn't the appropriate way to deal with the issue at hand. God knows our heart and knows it’s the NPP who can genuinely solve this problem, so allowed it during our time. Let's embrace the challenge and fix it, because this isn't bigger than free shs, 1D1F, 1V1D, PFJ etc.
I appeal to the Minister responsible, to put in all his effort. Thankfully, he can easily catch the eye of the President and get this fixed, then afterwards, we can do the politics it deserves.
