SHOCKING!!! 2022 Agyenkwa Budget Rejected!

Parliament has rejected the 2022 budget statement presented by Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, on Wednesday, November 17.

All 137 members from the Minority side rejected the motion to approve the budget after the Majority refused to come back to the chambers after staging a walkout.

Walkout

The Majority staged the walkout, according to Peace FM's Parliamentary correspondent, Emmanuel Akorli, because they were unenthused with the presence of the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.

General Mosquito as he is popularly called was seated at the public gallery, Emmanuel Akorli reported.

Earlier, the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Bagbin, sided with the Minority who had insisted that Ministers who were not MPs be instructed to leave since they were not eligible to vote.

It must be noted, however, that Mr Nketia is a member of the Parliamentary Service Board.

5minutes 'Ultimatum'

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin gave the Majority members a five-minute break for them to return to the chambers but they refused to budge.

Subsequently, he ruled that the budget had been rejected after a unanimous 'No' to the motion.

Meanwhile, the house has been adjourned until Tuesday, 30th November 2021.
