COVID-19: No Vaccination No Entry Policy To Start 1st January - Dr Aboagye Dacosta

The Director of Health Promotion at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr DaCosta Aboagye, has disclosed that effective 1st January 2022, the 'No Vaccination No Entry' policy of Government and the Ghana Health Service will take effect.

According to him, this is to encourage Ghanaians to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.

Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that if someone refuses to take the Covid-19 jab, he or she will have to present a PCR test results every morning at his or her work place or any government institution before being allowed entry.

Currently, Ghana has received more vaccines and the more vaccination centres have been opened to allow more people to get vaccinated.

About 12,324,710 doses of vaccines, with 5,451,291 of the population receiving at least one jab as of November 27 this year, representing at least 21 per cent of the targeted population for reaching herd immunity.

He said the pipeline had also assured the country of the delivery of more than seven million doses between now and December this year, which would bring the number of doses to over 20 million.

"What is left is for us to avail ourselves so we can meet the 20 million target to reach herd immunity before the close of the year," he explained.

However, the Omicron variant has not been identified in Ghana yet.
